Live
For more than 15 years, Daniel has delivered lectures, presentations, live performances and workshops. He has appeared in hundreds of venues from pubs to prisons and run workshops for attendees from primary kids to pensioners. Here is a live event recorded at York Festival of Ideas in the summer of 2025.
From 2016 to 2018, he was a Writer-in-Residence for the Edinburgh Book Festival, and in 2019/20 and 2022/23, Daniel was a Writer-in-Residence in a Primary School. During 2025, he was appointed Writer-in-Residence again, this time at a secondary school.
If you are in Scotland, he qualifies for funding through the Live Literature scheme.
Audio
Daniel is a regular guest on TalkSport and national BBC radio, and has talked about various topics on most local BBC stations across the country. Here he is talking on BBC Radio 4’s Food Programme about football snacking, and TalkSport about Sundays.
He has hosted the Nutmeg football podcast, a mix of one-on-one interviews and documentaries. Daniel also hosts and produces the When Saturday Comes podcast. He has undertaken voiceover work for audiobooks and online advertisement videos, and makes his own promotional films.

Daniel’s first television appearance was in 1995, when he was caught on camera during a pitch invasion at a Middlesbrough FC game. Since then, he has talked about various topics on TV, radio and podcasts. Most recently, he presented two series for Dan Snow’s History Hit channel.
